we get so many fast paced revenge stories here i’m actually kind of glad this takes its time trying to get to know all these characters. i think it’s a very realistic take on how lippe’s trying to process all of this - according to her, her family & loved ones were caught up in a plot caused by someone that they knew but didn’t expect. she’s basically starting from scratch trying to figure out the who, why, when, and how of her past life. and she’s not even ten yet, so she’s definitely not in any position to be like a traditional FL who can ride out on a horse or go out into town and get answers for herself. most of her info has to come from interacting with every possible suspect (which, considering she knows next to nothing about why anyone would even WANT to target her family, narrows it down to pretty much everyone they’ve come into contact with)
still, i see where the criticism comes from. it’s almost 70 chapters in and there’s not much we know besides the possibility of multiple culprits in her family’s murder, and a possible motive for them to do so. still, the art style’s SUPER pretty and i’m not tired of the slice of life aspects yet. i think the main problem lies within the fact that the story reads a LOT smoother when it’s read in one sitting, instead of waiting for each update. i think the latter makes the story seem a lot longer and more drawn out than it actually is.

this is just my two cents but, i don’t really see the point in taking sides when the whole narrative takes its time to tell everyone’s side and explore everyone’s emotions in ways that don’t ultimately paint anyone as a good or bad guy. i’m someone who’s been in abusive relationships - mental and physical - and both of these characters are so believably sympathetic that i really think tanaka-sensei has experienced similar situations before. it’s hard to forgive yourself after a relationship like hayashida and yumi’s, no matter what side you’re on. for hayashida, it’s a bit more obvious. you feel like you can’t forgive yourself because you HURT someone you were supposed to love, and because you unfairly took out your personal issues out on others. for yumi, you can’t forgive yourself because you feel like you weren’t able to change someone for the better/couldn’t admit to yourself that both of you need to leave the relationship because you invested so much time in each other and it CAN’T end like this.
i think it’s totally valid to say you prefer one story/character to another, but to say that either one is irredeemable or stupid undermines the whole message that you can move on and be a better, healthier person for it.
okay but that one panel where jihwa’s envisioning nakyum as this slippery temptress is so funny. like. dude, were we watching the same sex scene? nakyum was crying the whole time. nakyum has been nothing BUT crying since he stepped foot onto the estate. leave the poor boy alone lmao
Jihwa has "special" eyes.
He keeps seeing and understanding things that are just not there.
