What frustrates me is that from here on, the situation isn’t going to stop being uncomfortable for her. The blackmail and her family’s financial situation is at the forefront of the problem but if she chooses ML she will always feel trapped by her mother’s pressure to marry, the intimidation she feels from ML’s family’s wealth and status, the fact that the dragons are in need of heirs, and the fact that the dragons are powerful as beastmen in general. She was already under the pressure of ML’s feelings for her and was dating him while trying to process what she felt for him and whether it was enough. Now, there’s no time and the fact that ML isn’t unhappy at the prospect of marrying her (being unaware of the situation and unaware of how much pressure she feels and happy to have someone he wants to marry, having been under pressure himself) makes saying no difficult, regardless of how considerate he is, especially because she does reciprocate to some degree. I know it’s in the title, but we’re watching the beginning of an inevitable disaster, one that we now know could have absolutely played out differently. I should have realized the first part was going too smoothly—that wrong confession was cleared up far too quickly for rofan standards. Here’s hoping things don’t get too messy

I’ve got sort of mixed feelings. On the one hand life isn’t a fairy tale and having resources and stability does matter. For example, Every single mother who’s broke and struggling is going to have similar pressure on them to get with a man who has resources to help the kids and make her life easier. Second, as you said, it isn’t that she is going to be marrying someone she doesn’t like. After all, they were already dating. I don’t think marrying earlier than she would have wanted is necessarily a bad thing when she is doing so for a better life for her family. Just like a guy may like his wife to be cute. What I think is a far bigger issue about the situation is that she is lying to him about it. I don’t think the pressure or early marriage is what will kill this. They’re plenty of very young people pushed by their families into an early arranged marriage and statistically they are actually more successful as they are usually arranged based on having common values, stability and similar life goals. Again my main issue is she’s lying to him. I’m pretty sure she just could have been honest with him and if he couldn’t help the parents I think he would still marry her.

assuming what’s “best” for someone without talking to the person involved is rude and I hope ML doesn’t fall for that trap—he literally watched/helped FL rebuild a failing dukedom against all odds and despite many threats, assuming she couldn’t handle the palace if she chose to stand beside him would be stupid

I know it’s been spoiled that Lloyd is the main story end game, but I did read the epilogues and I thought I’d give some more info, in case anyone was interested—the author clearly understands the struggle of second-male-lead syndrome. They’re quite lengthy too. Reinhausd’s is expectedly very kinky, the most physical, and progresses the farthest (which makes sense given the context of their relationship). Kyle’s has a lot of content involving other characters and he has to get over his mother-related problems with loving others. Diego’s is a little spicier but involves a lot of demon politics and shenanigans plus underworld dealings (the 780+ year age gap is mentioned very explicitly, though she’s chill with it). THE FINAL EPILOGUE IS A FULL HAREM ENDING, for those who want it all.

**NOTE: The whole eng trans is easy to find.**

Sorry, it’s my bad for not being clear about it. Lloyd is the real ML of the completed story. The epilogues/extra chapters function as “what if” situations, similar to alternate routes in a dating sim, in which different timelines are depicted. Basically, in each extra chapter, the author gives us the chance to see what would happen if FL had not fallen in love with Lloyd and instead one of the second male leads, as well as what the ending would have been like had FL chosen a reverse-harem. Lloyd is still present in all of the extra chapters but he’s not the love interest because it’s like a different timeline, again, like a dating sim. I simply thought it was nice that the author to provide us with this kind of fan-service(?). I hope this makes sense!!

I saw the spoiler that said he gets his memories back quite early and that pretending to have no memory is a ruse to attack the elders, but the way they’re framing it is so annoying. The fact that Erin is pregnant makes this so much more unpleasant—we can’t even feel properly happy for them. It’s mean.

tbh I got it from one of the other commenters here and figured they’d done their homework. to back that up i did a quick search just now for novel spoilers (don’t really recommend, the threads are a mess) and it’s apparently true that he recovers quickly from the amnesia while pretending he hasn’t. however, in the novel he loses his memory due to a drug rather than an accident, so I’m not sure how much that difference will factor into the comic’s plot
