i feel so bad for the wife she's a good person and doesn't deserve that :^(
I don't think she loves Ikuro. I think she likes him, but it's also a bit of a stockholm syndrome situation because she is stuck in that house surrounded by strangers and he is the one person she knows. He became her life raft.
But he won't touch her. She knows that he married her for political reasons and to create an heir. It's her duty. She signed on to that. She will be blamed if a child is not conceived of first. It's always the woman who gets the blame. (see The Handmaiden's Tale on Hulu)
And technically, Ranzo is the Master of the House, his heirs are the ones who will inherit NOT Ikuro's. So this is in the best interest of the family...

If Ranzo doesn't have an heir then the Makoto Corporation gets everything. So in a way she NEEDS to get pregnant by Ranzo.
I guess the corporation found out and wants Ranzo dead before he can have an heir.
Maybe you're thinking ahead, but as far as we know the wife is a good person. I'll agree with you that she doesn't love Ikuro, but it's nothing like Stockholm syndrome. She was not kidnapped, nor is she being conditioned to stay in that house. She married Ikuro out of good intentions. She said it herself, that she wants to fall in love and experience a fulfilling marriage life or whatever. Political reasons or shady intentions are from Ikuro's side and her family, but she's not feeding that fire. If that makes sense.
Chapter 8 is all we see of her encounter with Ranzou. She was clearly uncomfortable and put off by Norihiko's suggestions so I don't get where you can confidently say she slept with him from. Sure, in the future she might crack under the pressure of both families, but as far as I'm concerned, she has not slept with Ranzou.
Although I do hope she doesn't do it, Norihiko is one manipulative bastard and knows how to play his cards right. You can confidently say she'll sleep with Ranzou depending on how she'll react to the whole unfaithfulness thing. If she reacts out of spite (which she doesn't seem the type) then she'd probably do it.
Well, if she does, it probably won't sit well with Ikuro. Not because he loves her, but probably because of the sense of inferiority he has to the brother who does nothing and gets everything. Norihiko might say that he has the good of the family in mind, but I honestly doubt the family means anything to him compared to seeing Ikuro broken and isolated.
Stockholm is about creating a bond with your captor. We know she wasn't kidnapped, but she is stuck in that place. She can't exactly leave either, not without asking for permission and so forth. So she's practically under house arrest.
Being unable to leave a place under your free will is legally considered kidnapping. So I think Stockholm applies here...at least a bit.
Yeah, she did want to fall in love. But she picked the wrong guy so all she's going to get is heartache. He doesn't love her. Not in the way she wants and he is unable to consummate the marriage.
It's been a LONG time since I read that chapter. I forgot she pushed Ranzo away and caused him to cry. But I think it's going to happen. Chekhov's gun and all that.
I thought Ikuro sort of knew this is going to happen since he can't produce an heir himself due to him choosing to be with Norihiko and he demanded Ikuro's fidelity. Plus he doesn't want the company to get everything.
I think the thing that might make Ikuro upset is not so much the inferiority...which does sort of exist but I think it's tangled up with hate, fear, and grief because he sees Ranzo as a curse since he doesn't know the truth of what happened to Ranzo and why.
I think Ikuro might be upset because like how we saw in chapter 12 he's still a bit protective of Ranzo. He thinks it's wrong how his father abused Ranzo. He still doesn't understand the why on that or why no one tried to stop it and they all blamed Ranzo for it saying he seduced his father. He was conditioned since a child (by the adults around him) to hate Ranzo it's a hard habit to break.
So I think that while he understands it might be necessary for Ranzo to have an heir and with Ikuro's wife...that he will feel sick about it because Ranzo is still a child even if his body is not.
*sees thumbnail* Well I‘m not a furry but I domt judge
*reads description and sees that theyre middle schoolers* yeah nvm I think the fuck not
if you ignore the slightly perverted curious kid there's nothing bad. no sex no predatory behaviour no pedos or anything. Some ambiguous moments (but no harm whatsoever) the manga is mostly about how their universe works
There's no sex, no dicks, no Masterbation, only thing in here is occaional groping and sexual innuendo. Just a bunch of short read in any-order stories with the only goal is to have a slight-half-harded giggle.
