So while I’m sure Alphonse and Chloe were trying to time things, it could be possible that they were missing the mark. You have to remember, while humans can get pregnant fairly easily, women are still bound to a biological clock which dictates when a woman is most fertile (usually just before their period). Sure they can still get pregnant outside of this window of time, but it’s much harder.
And while I’m sure they’re going at it more like rabbits now, prior they were only doing it once a month, giving them a 1/30 chance of successfully hitting the right day/time period for Chloe to successfully get pregnant
