well it's maybe because readers go into this story expecting typically yaoi relationships, but when they're handed a cute father-son-like relationship, they feel uncomfortable thinking about the two doing certain inappropriate yaoi tropes (like having sex in heat, looking at each other with lustful eyes, getting into raunchy situations, etc).

we're watching this sweet dynamic, and we don't want that to be treated frivolously. they can be endgame, as long as they become endgame in an appropriate fashion. if you think that yuto should go from a father-figure to lyco's "husband" with a snap of his fingers, then that's kinda messed up. We shouldn't expect a father figure to look at his son with lustful eyes, regardless of the outcome we're expecting.

I totally understand and valid points, I guess the issue here is how much are people going to take this yaoi plot in to reality terms?
I agree it’s very sweet and love the dynamics between them but eventually it’s gonna end with them kinda doing it and being together— whether it’s by the snap of fingers or not idk, it depends on how many chapters but I think it’s kinda going to happen in a few chapters.
I guess at the end of the day, it’s going to happen and smut is gonna be there and they’re no longer going to be that father and son relationship.
And that takes us into, well what counts as appropriate, cuz let’s be honest lmao yAoi ain’t appropriate for shit. If appropriate equals not having smut and keeping a soft love story, then I’m afraid to say that, that’s not what’s going to happen and I advise probably not to read further for those readers.
I kinda find it pointless for the people to say “I hope they’re not gonna end together” or “no smut” because well it’s gonna be there, but that’s me cuz ppl can post whatever.

Now- if it does happen where they are not gonna end up together or not have sex (which I’m sure it’s not the case) then I’ll eat my words lol

maybe you misunderstood me, because i don't know what tirade you're going on about. my point was, if someone doesn't want the two main characters of a BL manga to end up together romantically then they should stop reading it. after all, it's BL, they are going to get together, and if it makes you uncomfortable then you should read something that fits more to your tastes. no point in forcing yourself to read a dynamic you don't enjoy and makes you feel uncomfortable.

Secondly, regarding your reply to me, I know they're most likely ending up together. I wanted to offer an explanation as to some people's complaints or comments about their relationship. It's just odd knowing they'll be together after getting used to their father-son relationship; it's difficult to see them any other way. Anyway, I appreciate your respectful response. I like having nice conversations with people rather than hateful arguments.

first off, I don't know if you meant it to be that way, but labeling it as a "tirade" came off a bit hurtful. I wanted to explain a point of view others may not have considered. Also, I may have misunderstood the original context of your post due to the replies. Now that I know what you were trying to say, I agree. If a reader doesn't like the way a relationship is going, then they have a right to stop reading. However, they also have the right to comment on the relationship and explain why it is they dislike it. As long as those comments provide a reasonable rationale rather than just a hate-filled rant, then it's fine.

Oh yea I agree, it is really weird to see a father son relationship turn into something more! I think because it was yaoi from the get go and we just knew they were gonna end up together just made things kinda— unexpected by the comments?
