I am so confused at what I read. I feel like I need to read it again but I doubt that will give me any more clarity. My brain just hurts and I need a pain killer.

This manga has no right being this fricking awesome. I can't get over how much I love the art. Every emotion is seen plain as day on their face, which may not seen like it takes that much talent, but some artists really struggle with having their characters convey strong emotions. I could feel the pain in Kei's eyes when Naruse admits he almost believed that Kei felt something for him when they made love. Which was right, he actually felt something and was forgetting that this was his job.
When I realized that Naruse was using the service because he was struggling deeply with his sexuality and felt like no one would ever love him (same honestly), it hit not just close to home, it actually exploded said home.
This story doesn't really delve deep into it, but it does an amazing job at realistically illustrating the type of homophobia that I believe is rampant in Japan. Homophobia stemmed from deep ignorance and lack of representation. The person who was typing into the phone about seeing "homos" is a perfect example of someone who has a twisted understanding of reality. We walk by gay people all the time. Just because someone isn't dressed like a rainbow doesn't mean they aren't gay. Considering that Japanese culture is extremely reserved to the point where people will go missing on purpose just to escape the pressure they feel from their everyday lives, it's completely understanding that gay people would be in the closet. This manga, via Naruse's tearful monologue says so much about what many gay people struggle with.
I'm always going to love stories that make me feel something. This story, in addition to being hilarious, is a genuinely good story with well written characters that are easy to love and make you want the best for them. I usually go out of my way to buy manga that is not released in English, when I really like it. I really want to buy this manga. Didn't really look when reading it, but I usually write down the ISBN and search on Bookfinder and I pretty much always find a site to buy it. If there is a physical copy for it (cause a lot of manga, much to my chagrin, is exclusively digital) then I will buy a hard copy of it, which is saying a lot.

I wanted to like this manga, I really did, but so much of it felt like I was witnessing the plot of a gay porno about a teacher and student with all of the sex scenes in school and in public places. Like geez....do you want to be a romantic story or an erotica about a salacious relationship where a teacher takes advantage of his student? You can't have it both ways. I don't give a shit what the fuck Kazuki did. He's a fucking kid. If you're trying to pull some cognitive dissonance shit to help justify the power imbalance in the relationship so that you can get your rocks off without feeling guilty about it, go ahead, but don't try to bring this shit into the real world. That defense won't hold up in court. Trust me, tons of teachers tried using that defense and look where it got them.
Anyway, the manga felt very empty. It was going somewhere but lost itself on the way trying to be something it wasn't. It went down the same road the Kuroneko did. I don't mind sex scenes, but boy did they just take over the plot.
I would have loved to learn even more about Miwa and Kazuki as characters. We have some character development and background information, yes, but since this was a decently long manga (compared to other BL), I would have liked to know more about their pasts. Develop that. We don't know extensive details about Miwa's life. There was so much potential for this story. It just ended up falling flat and not really leaving any impact for me. It was good for what it was worth, but nothing special.

Actually, this manga style.. I mean if you look at the title panel, you will see that style in a lot of erotica mangas. Its like a company and they all have the same pattern/style.

So my point is, I think this really is an erotica hhhhahaha like "Fire in his fingertips' or "The Mischievous Incubus"

A healthy polyamorous relationship in a BL and a triad to boot. Being a queer poly person myself (who hasn't really entered the poly scene yet *ehem*) it's refreshing to see poly relationships being portrayed in a positive light. Granted it took a while for this throuple to come together and two thirds of them are criminals with warrants out for their arrest...I digress. Romantic love is definitely possible between more than two people.
I'm tired of these toxic triads where one person is resentful and only agreed to it because they didn't want to lose their partner while the other isn't considering their partner's feelings at all. Everyone involved genuinely loves each other. It's very heartwarming to see.

PetitFae February 18, 2020 2:27 am

Anyone would be bitter/hurt if they were the loser in love. Dongho is young too and so it's understandable that he would think, feel and act the way he did.
I reacted worse than him when I dealt with the toxic relationship I had with my ex (put me through hell). I just want him to find happiness with someone who will cherish him and make him feel special. We all deserve that. If the person happens to be Jaehwan then all the better.

I throw my hands up in the air sometimes, saying, "AYO! What the hell, Niel?!" Gonna have a freaking brain aneurysm. AY AY AY AY AY CHI MAMA!
Shout out to Elle for being an awesome friend. Need to get me a friend like that. I'm that bitch who forgets to eat and loses myself in my depression and I need a friend to break into my house and make me eat something.
Any whoodle poodle scoodle, Eugene is a cutie pie. Hey gurl!~! I wonder what the guy wants to say to him. Niel keep your ass there, it may be something important!

PetitFae February 12, 2020 12:17 am

Fuck! Every time I think about it, my teeth hurt. What kind of monster eats ice like that?!
This kinda reminds me of the set up for False Memories with the whole memory loss and abuse prior to it. I can already tell this series is going to be a roller coaster ride--fifty shades of fucked up.

PetitFae February 11, 2020 6:29 pm

I don't understand why they didn't try it. There's nothing wrong with trying it and then not liking it. It seems as if there is insecurity both ways. Having strict roles in bed is not even that realistic seeing as more gay men switch things up. Why wouldn't you? You don't even need a penis to do so. Pegging exists.
Exploration is healthy and it helps couples become closer and experience a new kind of intimacy. You're learning more about yourself as well as your partner. Finding new things the pleasure the both of you and being able to experience that with someone you love and trust is special.
It's kind of disappointing that it didn't happen. I mean how many times are you going to see a top say they are willing to bottom. I mean Byul was the one to bring it up. And so what if what from insecurity. Maybe that's what he needed and it would have helped to experience intimacy that way for one. What is important is that there is open communication in a relationship and that all parties involved feel comfortable expressing there needs. *sighs*
I hope Jaehwan gets his shit together. Poor Dongho is left in the dark.

Yeah, I have been reading BL for over a decade now. I've pretty much mapped out all of the troupes. There are several mangaka that are known to have switches. Since this is the first time it's been brought up in this webtoon I had no idea where it would go.

Never said that. I just said why not try it. If it's still a no then at least you tried. Everyone has things they don't like. I certainly know I do.

I like taking a deeper look into any piece a literature that I am consuming. It's not going to cause me to lose sleep. I just enjoy a good discussion especially if I enjoy what I'm reading.

Yeah I’ve read some where they switch but to me they were the same, it didn’t really change much. But I’m also a die hard fan of cliches. I love them, I don’t get sick of them

I love them cliches, too. I got you~but what I mean by game changer is that sex roles, or roles for anyone isn't exciting. It lacks creativity, and know-how by portraying those type of archetypes. It's def just too weak, yk? ̄へ ̄)With BL motel I think there is a lot more to read into, and sell itself on.*esp the MC's sex journey

The way that trauma in this webtoon (and many others) is addressed is really impressing me. Yunho not only lost his whole family in an accident but he is also dealing with survivor's guilt and PTSD. I really appreciate that research was done, that it is being handled in such a respectful way. Yunho isn't being isolated or shamed for reacting that way that he is. He is given a supportive environment in which to safely express the pain he is experiencing. I had to stop for a moment because it got me thinking about my own trauma. Hanwool mentioned that Yunho didn't have to try to get over his trauma. Essentially saying that "It's okay to not be okay."
It really got me thinking about my own trauma and this is the first time a webtoon made me do that. Honestly, I didn't think I would love this webtoon so much, but I do. Once I'm no longer freaking homeless and looking for work, I want to pay for this webtoon and others that I have come to love.

I thought that I was going to be the only one to suggest a non-monogamous relationship. Being someone who is poly and a relationship anarchist, I fully acknowledge that consensual non-monogamy is very beneficial. However, that may not be the case for all the characters. Jan can't choose but that doesn't necessarily mean he wants a polyamorous relationship. I think the trauma he experienced has affected his ability to have a healthy relationship. He's terrified of being abandoned and as they say "a drowning man grasps at straw". He is willing to fill the void with whatever. That isn't to say his feelings aren't real. I'm saying that not all of his decisions are rational and well thought out. Whatever he is feeling at the moment is what he decides. Is it fair to Jamil and Pray? Hell no. Is it selfish? Hell yes.
If you cannot handle being by yourself, you can't handle being with others. Insecurity and fear carry themselves into relationships. Jan is hurt, immature and acting on his own interests, but that doesn't mean he's a monster. He's a human being and that's what humans do. I can't even hope for an ending where no one is hurt. People were already hurt and will continue to be hurt. What I hope for is an ending that leads to the least amount of hurt and that hopefully that all the characters find some sort of peace. If that is a poly relationship, cool! There needs to be more healthy queer poly representation out there.
