I've tried to read Ten Count. I'm on my 4th attempt. I'm trying so hard to read it because the plot is really good, and the main character has some relatable attributes. But, the sex scenes get a little too hardcore for me, I dunno why but even when I try to scroll past, I find these sex scenes really scary. I want to continue reading this story though. Advice? How do I toughen up?
Actually, Ten count doesn't have so many sex scenes but they do lewd things quite often. If you are not used to reading yaoi then i can understand it will be a bit hard in the beginning. My advice is to study the sex scenes, notice small details like how well a sex scene can be made. If u can take a long time and calmly look at each page with yaoi in then you will slowly get used to the sex. I actually think that some sex scenes can be really beautifully made. But if u really don't want to read yaoi and feel uncomfortable then don't push yourself too hard. In Ten count, you won't really miss anything if you skip the sex scenes, so it's okay to not read and just read the rest of the story^^ maybe shounen ai is better for you then since they don't have sex scenes (^-^)
oh boy then you obviously haven't read some really good doujinshi's yet. You toughen up by listening to blcd's in my opinion, cause then you can imagine how intense the scene would be. A good place to start with intense sex scenes would be with... The mangaka Zariya Ranmaru, her drawings are very beautiful and detailed so give that a shot ^o^
But if you really can't handle the sex then don't worry you still have shounen ai on your side ^o^

Ten Count is sensei's first explicit sex scene. It you can't take the sex scene yet. How about starting with shounen-ai genre first or trying Sensei's famous previous work.

no need to toughen up, if you don't feel like reading it, it's better not to force yourself! and I don't know your age, but here there are older ladies that don't mind whatever sex-scenes; if you're young protect your eyes (I'm no preacher, I'm a shamless reader)

You can just skip them most sex scenes last for 5-6 pages for the most. Ten count has a really nice story and comparatively has less sex than most BL out there and usually they don't even go all the way. If you can't handle it Don't read it. Don't think : woah they can do it then so can I. Or smthn. Sex may play an important role in the story itself but you aren't gonna lose much by not seeing ot.
No need to push yourself. I remember the initial phase i went thru when i first started reading yaoi. Start slow. The time will come when you read sex scenes. You can keep it first for you to read later (⌒▽⌒)

What does it mean if it's tagged Yaoi and Shounen-ai?
The best answer I can have is that it contains lots of fluff (lovey dicey stuff and doesn't always revive around having sex just after kissing, hugging and all that). It may still contain a few sex buts here an there, but mainly fluff. Like for example 'Raising a Bat'. It mainly has a shounen-ai based love story, but contains around two sex scenes out if it's many chapters. Sorry if this doesn't help ;-;
