Maybe bun is slang for bunny here and it means the bunny is now worth the same as a silver wolf. It's probably a hunting reference and it means that whether you catch the bunny or the rare silver wolf, they are worth the same amount of money. It probably refers to someone of "lower status" being backed by or in love with someone of "higher status."

the bun and the wolf analogy made my head spin sm i'm pretty sure it must be one of those traditional analogies though
