Mm, yeah the artist does have a particular facial sense when it comes to drawing characters. Which for me is fine. I'm glad it's in color though. I think if it was in black and white, it might be mega confusing, unless there were only two characters (If both have different color hair, a pure black and the other not.), or if you could tell by their hair styles/length. Can't tell you how many times I've read b&w stories where I wasn't sure which character was talking, even looking at what I mentioned.. x.x;

As for the rape, I'm used to it in yaoi for the most part. Which is probably sad to say at this point.. -Awkward cough- I will admit if the rape scene is really bad, I do feel a bit queasy when I read. Not gonna lie. I just look at it being fiction that I can choose to read or not at that point. Sometimes I do stop, and sometimes I'll skim, not really reading at that point. But still kind of curious what happens As for this story.. Idk if I'd say it's romantacizing it per se in this. It doesn't seem like the MC is all hung up on Kang due to all that's happening. If anything, he's super pissed and wants revenge, which is natural imo. I've read some where it happened, and all of a sudden.. BAM! THEY MUST LOVE ME, BECAUSE THEY JUST DID THIS TO ME, SO I LOVE THEM. Just be glad it isn't one of those, lol.

As for if the one character knew.. I think he did? He at least knew about the blackmailing from what it seemed. He might not have asked, but I think he had a basic idea. Especially since if he didn't know, he would have after the talk by the swings. I'm pretty sure he knew, since he didn't seem to react like it was surprising. Plus I think that's why he was trying to help him with getting out of being blackmailed by Kang and that video.
