From what i've heard, Elijah is actually an enemy from Art's past life who wanted to get revenge on him.
In the future, he learns about this fact and their friendship broken and he turns once again in an enemy
i mean they were basically best friends, brothers even lol so i guess he can say beat friend
dang. it hurt when i read the spoilers but him calling art his bsf has momentarily mended my broken heart
