Maybe to conceal her powers because they were strong like you said but instead of it being because her body couldny take it maybe it was to make sure there wasnt any competition? Like the temple didnt want anyone being stronger then the heroine? Idk lol
Either her mom was smth that has to be concealed or the pills just simply hide her powers bc her body can’t take it. 2nd one explains the pain she went through when skipped the meds
