Sometimes I wonder if Mikasa is actually in love with Eren or just obsessed with him or if she just feels the need to love him because he saved her. If it is then she should 100% fight for it but if she isn’t I wish she could realize that so that she could be free from that heavy feeling and burden.

I just realized that the scarf in the manga is black and not red. They made it red in the anime to make it look better and not for the red string of fate. Interesting.... maybe isayama’s main message is that we create our own fate which makes us free

I think it's both, she went through a very traumatic event in her childhood and saw Eren as her savoir and a constant on her life, she loves Armin too but as a brother. For Eren she feels devotion (I wouldn't call it sexual or romantic attraction), her dream is being next to Eren without caring how he is meanwhile he is alive, but she is starting to realize (way too late, my girl) that she will need to give Eren up

I’m always wondering about the context of their relationship mostly because of what eremika fans say. But you gotta admit isayama is not going the traditional route like a lot of mangakas

I think it was originally something obsessive, but even then Mikasa has always cared for Eren not only out of obligation cause he saved her. In fact, Eren, with his self hate, was convinced that Mikasa only liked him because of that, but the thing is, is that he was wrong. Sadly, Mikasa couldn’t properly convey that to him before Eren went down the inhumane path.
One huge thing is that Mikasa just wanted to desperately stay by his side, blindly even, and that was why she and Armin chose to ignore his pain and depression. She realized her mistakes and she regrets them.
Now it’s safe to say their relationship has developed beyond that, Mikasa is now aware of Eren’s both good and bad sides, and disagrees with him instead of trying to excuse them like before.
One misconception the fandom seems to have: MIKASA IS FREE. She is literally drawn with wings lol and as an ackerman is strong and immune to brainwashing. Just because she cares for someone doesn’t make her “burdened” by it . She is strong and free BECAUSE she fights for those she cares about.

Kenny was loyal to the king the best way he could and even at the end he still cared for him and respected his "weak" philosophy, Levi was devoted to Erwin but not blindly, he still thinks of him and follows his ideals, Mikasa has never had the chance to prove her freedom to Eren (i agree with you with Eren thinking she is chained to him) but for me it's just they were going in the same direction all of this time, Mikasa wanted to protect Eren/Armin so she joined the corps, she was ready to attack her comarades to save Armin and she tried to convince everyone killing eren wasn't the only option, only now has Mikasa been put a position to show Eren her free will and I think she will
