Akihito is loyal towards Asami. There's no doubt. What Feilong did to him was forced same with Sakazaki. He did that with Sakazaki so he could obtain the info he needed, I'm pretty sure Aki didn't enjoy it either. Sides, he got the upper hand by recording what Sakazaki said. Yeah, I'm kinda upset too but i feel bad for Aki for what he had to do. Also, I'm pretty sure if Sakazaki isn't killed, Asami will ruin his monkey face. While Aki gets his sexytimes~~
Sensei says that Sakazaki is a masochist and wants Asami to rough him up for this. But I doubt he'd kill him over it. Sudou sliced Aki's throat open and all Asami did to him was give him a scornful look. Asami doesn't always walk the talk.
Sudou didn't "slice Aki's throat open"-- it was just a cut requiring no stitches. And Asami is smarter than to go after Sudou in a blind rage without thought or advanced planning. Apparently Asami was fully aware the other guys would try to take Sudou out. Why should he bother taking a unnecessary risk when he doesn't have to?
Sudou's intent was to kill Aki. So it's fine for Asami to say he'll tear to pieces anyone who "lays a hand" on Aki but then when someone tries to actually kill Aki, he can just stand back and go "Eh, it's just a scratch. Someone else will kill this guy eventually anyway, so it's okay for me to be all talk in this matter." Either Asami only occasionally backs up what he says or Sudou is a plot point who needed to survive.
I'm not sure what the deal is with Fei Long. Akihito nailed it when he said he knew neither Fei Long nor Asami wanted to really kill the other. I think it might be that Asami feels responsible for driving Fei Long to do what he did and some kind of twisted moral sense, feels killing him for it would be wrong. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
So you're expecting Asami to burst out in an UBER MACHO moment and kill Sudou RIGHT THEN because he needs to back up his threat? Forgetting that Kuroda was there with a large SWAT team? Forgetting that once Sudou was shot, he was shielded by the same law enforcement guys? Forgetting that dealing with the shooter would be Asami's first priority? Forgetting that said force was still present as Sudou was being loaded into the ambulance?
So what if someone else takes him out? It still serves Asami's purposes. It's irrelevant how it's done. Like I said, he's also being smart about it.
Also, just as an aside... when Asami said he would tear to pieces anyone who lays a hand on Akihito, at the time he was referring anyone who Akihito might attempt to have an affair with.
Asami's first priority was to go home and have coffee. He let someone else follow up on the shooter. (And that worked out well, considering the shooter now has him pinned down on the roof.) And he had no way of knowing someone else would try to take out Sudou in the hospital. As far as we know, he has no idea that even took place or that Sakazaki saved Sudou or that Mikhail is now meeting with Sudou. He seems to have shrugged off Sudou and his attempt to murder his lover entirely. That's not being smart. That's just not giving that much of a shit.
He went home because there was nothing else he could do at the time, as I stated in the previous comment (nor has he had the time to do much yet-- it's only been a few hours). You've chosen to ignore those facts. I dunno... maybe you're just trolling because you're bored. But assuming you're not...
His first priority was to take Akihito home. He only had coffee because Akihito forced it (and himself) upon him. Poor Asami...
The shooter got away... leaving behind a glass slipper. Asami's next step would be to find someone knowledgeable about glass slippers so he can get a clue to the identity of the shoe wearer. I'm going to guess you're next going to argue that he's SUCH an expert on footwear that he should know everything there is to know about glass slippers, too. Be that as it may, he doesn't.
Asami had no way of knowing someone would try to take Sudou out?! Well, seeing how the shooter shot Sudou as he was being arrested, obviously in attempt to keep himself and/or his organization from being ID'd by Sudou... I'd say that is kind of a big hint that *SOMEONE IS TRYING TO KILL HIM*!!!11!1!!
Not to mention even Sakazaki figured out that someone would be targeting Sudou at the hospital and he commented that Asami left him unguarded (on purpose, ya think?) Although... Sakazaki may be more intelligent than people give him credit for-- oh... feel free to argue that point, if you like. :P
Anyway, you expected Asami to jump down and chase after the shooter while holding a gun. Not a smart move... especially since the Japanese SWAT team was down there, not knowing who the hell was shooting at them. What would be smart? Keep a low profile, go home, have some hot sex... errr coffee, try gather more info, and plan your next move.
Who knew a small army would suddenly show up to take Asami out?! He didn't. Did you? I'll admit it... I had no clue. Wow. It makes me wonder just how big and deep this conspiracy is!
Maybe you just expect Asami to be perfect. Or maybe you want to believe that Asami doesn't give a shit about Akihito. Either way, feel free to keep indulging those thoughts. :)
So yeah, yeah. The SWAT team, the guns, all that. But as to not having time to do anything, I'm not buying that because two other interested parties had time to spring into action. Both whoever wanted to kill Sudou and Sakazaki had time to move while Asami just sat back and did nothing. Okay, he couldn't do anything because Aki was sitting on him. So there's that. And just trusting that someone else will kill someone that you should have dealt with yourself seems like a pretty casual and haphazard way to conduct a crime syndicate. "Well those guys tried to kill Sudou once. I guess eventually they'll get it right if I wait long enough."
The crux of the problem for me is that he blows up over the idea of anyone touching Akihito in a sexual way but you can tie him up, hang him from a warehouse baling hook with a knife to his throat with the intent of cutting him wide open in an attempt to make Asami feel bad and that's okay with Asami. You can go on living. He won't care. But you rub your stiffy on Aki's ass and you wind up being fished out of Tokyo Bay.
And yeah, I'm being a little bit of a devil's advocate, though I think there are some character inconsistencies at play.
At heart, I guess what I'm looking for is not perfection but some kind of reaction from Asami regarding the fact that Sudou tried to kill the man he loves. There's an odd disconnect in this story, an emotional/character thread that was dropped there.
Okay then, if you think about it... what is it that Sudou wants the MOST from Asami? He wants to be noticed by him. He wants his undivided attention.
He wants Asami to have enough of an emotion toward him (even if it's negative) that he will PERSONALLY kill him. Sudou fantasizes about Asami gazing with passionate anger/hate into his eyes, as his life slowly drains from his body, lol. How romantic
.
So by totally disconnecting from Sudou (it's already as if Sudou doesn't exist to him) instead of giving him the death he wants, this is the WORST possible punishment Asami could give him. I believe that was Sensei's intent, since Sakazaki and Sudou have a bit of dialogue relating to this. It might be awkwardly conveyed here because Japanese dialogue is notoriously NOT straightforward.
Is Asami aware that this is worst possible thing he can do to Sudou? I don't know. I can only say my opinion is... I think he knows.
"But you rub your stiffy on Aki's ass and you wind up being fished out of Tokyo Bay." HAHAHAHA!!!! This so true. It's almost as if it's a running gag with Asami. Who knows? Maybe it is.
But I'll admit to at least one glaring inconsistency. Fei Long got away with a fairly brutal raping of Akihito. Apparently Asami's feelings toward Fei Long are... complicated.
And don't be "yeah, yeah, SWAT team... guns, all that..." because some of us are action junkies and we'll take whatever we can get.
it's all about personality, Asami is composed without losing self-possession that's why he is in the top, in the end sudoh will be killed why bother to dirty his hand ? on the contrary when he left other to do this job it's to belittle sudoh, he isn't even worth his concern, if he has some worth he will kill him with his hand, but then not in this conditions he will not attack someone an invalid's bed and kill him with sang-froid, asami is a real shinshi (gentleman in japanese).
I would really like to see Sakazaki get what's coming to him. I guess what Fei did was really more brutal, but somehow with Fei I saw it as part of a complex emotional situation, and Aki didn't seems as upset--it did make him run to wash his mouth out or throw up or anything. I am sure Aki was not happy with Fei, mind you, it's just that Sakazaki has a much creepier vibe to me. It's like Sakazaki is always sleazy, and Aki is just one of many recipients of that ooziness. The only character I hate more is Yuri.
You mean composed without losing self-possession like he was here?

Where he dirtied more than just his hand shooting the messenger (not very gentlemanly, is it?) just because Aki's voice sounded different? Or are we talking about a different Asami?
SPOILER
you know that scene... when akihito gave sakazaki a blowjob and sakazaki was so awfully happy that he somehow sullied something precious to asami. that traumatized me. i can't forget it. it breaks my heart. wth is akihito doing. srsly ( ̄へ ̄)ughhh (well, asami said that he will erase everyone other than him who touches akihito. he didn't erase fei long or he's in the middle of it but it's ok, he's nice. he better do something about sakazaki. and akihito. wth. srsly)
