okAY WELL this is my happy ending to their bittersweet one:

It's 2027. The first day of school in New York City. The son of two Japanese immigrants sits down at his seat. In front of him, the son of two brokers turns around, looking at the black-haired boy with an unwavering gaze. No words are exchanged, but they remember. The curse. The fire.

The teacher abruptly starts class.

Class ends.

Gasping for breath, he catches up to the Japanese boy in the halls and allows himself to sob into his neck. Their embrace lasts longer than the eternity they spent after death. Longer, sweeter. They are each other's sun, giving warmth and a love for life without asking for anything in return. A selfless love.

80 years later, after marrying and buying
an apartment and raising a family and loving each other, it's time to return to death, together. Their children and grandchildren are at their bedsides as they, once more, take their final breath, together. Together.

Might they go love each other in heaven, or might they be reborn again? Much of the world is unknown, like the ages after death, but their are loves that no force or entity can separate. Their love is as such.
