The FL is partly to blame for having a poor taste in men. It's one thing to settle with being settle best with someone who is actually a decent person and treats you with respect. It's another when the said person is actually a total selfish shitbag that treats you like crap.

Definitely agree. I think I just have a bit more sympathy for her cause at one point she does try to leave (when she decided to quit the company). But then he brings up marriage?? Which I feel like gave the FL so much false hope. She still should have left later on.
The male lead just seems much more toxic and manipulative that he strings her along into marriage yet still fighting off his sorrows about his dead wife. And then he’s constantly abusive even if it’s not necessarily all physical.
That’s why I don’t feel sorry for FL because she has no sense of self respect. What did she expect when she married the asshole ML? All these harlequin stories with weak FL are delusional to the toxic, overbearing, asshole ML that it’s freaking hilarious
