Uhhhh, he was a pretty forgettable character to me personally, but I'm pretty sure either him or one of his closest allies got turned into a "shadow soldier" of Cain's.

The baby hid and didn't get found pretty sure. Or maybe it was the mom hiding his aura or something, I forget the exact details, we aren't even halfway through the novel and its still updating ;-;
