I think Erban is the empress' little brother. Like biologically speaking. He's the emperor's little brother in law. I think, if that makes sense? I might be wrong but thats what I thought.
I think Erban's mother is a relative of the empress. For example Erban's mom is a sister of Duke A and the empress is the daughter of Duke A. If that's the case thay would be possible that they are blood relative and inherit the appearance of another.

According to wiki it said Erban is the emperor only younger brother so I think the current empress is related to the previous empress so that why both Erban and the empress who inherited their look from the previous empress family look so much alike ╮(￣▽￣)╭
