atleast this isnt romaticized tbh unlike those other explicit BLs that has shameless disgusting plots with rape. The story itself is historical and i think this was pretty common during the historical times(especially in women) but yeaa. It's really to be expected to have this scenarios whenever it is psychological historical wherein the mc suffers.

I agree that it’s not romanticized here. But please do NOT excuse the use of rape as a plot device by saying it’s a historical manhua when rape still happens in THIS day of age.

I know i know but it's so common in histories so it get adapted to historical manhuas or any other fictional works. And no im not saying it's a "plot device" rather it's a side-big-problem which are discussed in different works when it comes to histories and and modern world ofc. I didnt say it doesnt happen to this day of age lol. And also, the story itself is really historical, it's in the genre tags lol and there's a psychological beside it which explains that so much issues and sensitive topics will be discussed here like rape or trauma or manipulating people or locking up someone or slaves or torture (which are very common in histories lol). These kind of sensitive topics were common in my country's history also lol (and up until now since my country's gov't is fucked up)

and when i said it's expected to have this scenarios whenever it is psychological historical wherein the mc suffers, it's not always but since rape is a very important topic which needs to be discussed, it gets included in psychological drama works( especially psychological historical but it depends on the country's history that will be adapted to the works). Trust me, i've seen so much psychological and it always gets discussed but ofc a good discussion abt it wherein consequences and why you shouldnt do it are implied and seen to the work which had rape and other sensitive topics. I think you misunderstood when I said that line so yea here i am explaining HAHSHAHSHAHSAHS but anyways i hope u get it. i am sensitive to topics about rape and other things but like i said, it most of the time has to be discussed to educate the readers of that work.

the only thing I'll say in response to this is that I have personally read a lot of world literature particularly from ancient china and surrounding areas, and rape was never so prominently/explicitly shown. yes it existed. but it was rarely used as a plot device to propel the story, much less to show passion/romance/whatever between two characters. rape was as much as a reality then AS IT STILL IS NOW, and you don't see english writers of fiction + youg adult fiction nowadays inserting it so gratuitously either.
to be completely honest, the only genres I see that are for some weird reason OBSESSED with rape is vintage and some modern yaoi/BL. no need to excuse its use - it is lazy writing (and gross that some authors think rape is one of the few ways two men can sexually interact in an mlm story).

also people don't want to be talking about rape all the f*cking time. it's traumatizing to live it, traumatizing when it happens to someone you know, traumatizing to read it. like please, there is so much more to show in historical settings than one character forcing themselves sexually on the other. it totally get why the person that wrote this post (@ackerman) wrote what they wrote. and frankly i'm tired too.
