Ive reread this again after waiting for 2 years and I realized..... omgggg I think they parted ways (Kou and Kiku) because war and prolly because Kou never managed to come back after the war because his plane crashed in the sea/disappeared in the sea that’s why the grandad wanted his ashes to be spread in the ocean to be with Kou. OMG......: OTL
