Kaneki/Haise

I think it's pretty obvious he isn't alive anymore at this point. Especially after the setting of his last appearance.

Our biggest clue that Hide is still alive happened quite a few chapters ago, where Haise recieved a book for christmas (I believe) that was a signed copy made out to Kaneki. In the anime, it was Hinami who got this book signed, but in the original manga it was Hide who went out to get the book signed. Shortly thereafter, Haise also receives Kaneki's mask in the mail and makes contact with Uta. Most people assume that the book, if even gifted my someone other than Hide, is a significant indication of his continued relevance and health in the series, just because of its sheer history.

In my opinion, just stepping back and looking at the facts, Hide's name is Hideyoshi; no one names their kid after one of the 3 great generals that unified Japan, and only authors would do it to their characters if they plan on completely exhausting every possible angle of necessitating the character's existence. He was literally a shadow in the regular Tokyo Ghoul. I don't think we've seen the end of him, just from looking at the bones of the story. It would simply be a waste and perhaps even poor story telling to eliminate him so prematurely

. I AT LEAST expect Haise to discover he ate his old best friend - like some concrete information that makes the wiki pages changes. But then, why withhold and intentionally backburn Hide so much beneath all of these ghoul hunting politics, if the bombs was going to drop itself anyway?

there was a chapter where Shirazu and Saiko met Touka at the hospital, I read a theory that she might've visited Hide there, I'd like it to believe it.

true i suspect that he gave to kaneki his arms or legs so he cant liave the hospital but the CCG say that he is missing so i dont know how the ccg who have all the political power in the city dont know he is in a hospital, thats why im not sao sure if the guy in the hospital is hide

Again, no problem. I'll go ahead an summarize the whole link, just in case there are busy people who didn't read have time to read it scrupulously for 2 hours like I did. Essentially:

Hide is almost definitely the offspring of some high ranking officer in the CCG, the most popular theory is that he is one of the sons of the Washuu family.

His personal details, unlike many other characters with smaller roles, have never officially been detailed. This includes trivial things like blood type, age, etc.

His "tick," much like Kaneki's rubbing under his chin when nervous or lying, is scratching at his cheek, which he is seen doing numerous times when he discusses his family life or living circumstances.

He more than likely, with the connections from his washuu bloodline, made a deal with Arima and Co. to assure Kaneki's life, provided he (Kaneki) prove his humanity.

^The above notes further validate the idea that Hide is far too crucial and unrevealed of a character to kill off so suddenly. It should also be noted that, to date, there is not a single ghoul that has eaten a human whole an not left anything behind. The direct quote from Kaneki when he awoke with the taste of blood in his mouth was, "a Hide was gone." But given that no ghouls, including Kaneki, have even eaten all of a person, including their clothes, and that the series has made a point to parallel the feeding and afterimage of a ghoul feeding to serial murder scenes, the likelihood that Kaneki's statement referred to death was very slim.

But it wasnt clear, it didnt stated hide died. It only stated that kaneki tasted blood in his mout. It could only be an arm or leg. Its also re-clued when touka visited the hospital, theres only 3 possibility who is she visting its either koma&irimi, yuriko or hide. But the most logical one is hide, since koma and irimi are ghouls and yuriko is probably okay.

Route A of the anime is not a canon tokyo ghoul story line. As i detailed above, all ghouls thusfar have left at least a few body parts or pieces of clothing after they dine, meaning it's highly unlikely that Kaneki ate Hide, clothes and all, rather than Hide vacating the premise.
