Now, there’s both good and bad with this manga. The good only builds upon the bad, which is unfortunate because there is a concerning amount of bad that essentially glories sexism.
The ML sucks so much, I actually cannot deal with it. He’s the embodiment of a toxically-masculine MANCHILD. He has his cute moments at some points but he’s actually terrible. This manga is the epitome of sexism and it bothers me so much. It’s hot and fluffy but it reeks of gender roles and antiquated, backwards, and old-school mentalities that are peak toxicity. It’s been a while since I’ve stumbled upon the ancient garbage that is the “he bullies you because he likes you!” phrase, which solely exists to put girls down by not acknowledging the misbehaviour of boys, and teaching girls from a young age that they should “put up” with male abuse in an attempt to be appreciated, which is disgusting. It tries to mask its misogyny by making the FL be “empowered” by making her horny (cause apparently that’s the only way that an oppressed woman can be considered empowered ugh) but it’s done in such a pathetic way, and portrayed in a manner that truly shows this was written by someone who is part of the problem. I don’t suspect there’s any malice involved, and the story doesn’t seem to want to intentionally fall in these traps of purely disgusting sexism, which makes me sad for the author because it shows that they are probably unaware of their own internalised misogyny.
Again, a fluffy, hot and easy read that I would recommend if you want something quick and fun, but just keep in mind that a story of this caliber in current time should be heavily questioned due to its problematic nature, and if you read it, please make sure to look out for these acts of sexism and try not to glorify them! The last thing I’d want is for young and impressionable girls (and boys) to read this and think that the behaviour of the ML (and to an extent the FL for participating in victim-blaming culture ON HERSELF BRUH) is acceptable! Of course, again, it’s just fictional manga, so don’t take it too seriously, but be on the look out for toxic behaviour like that so you can make sure to not condone it in a real-life context!
