I can't quite understand why they say the campaign is bad....

I mean, it's normal to be fair when choosing your bride-to-be as your duty to rule the kingdom... Because, the queen needs the qualified skills to be able to assist the king... And everything is fair during this campaign.... Whoever wins, becomes the queen regardless of other people's nuance..... Right?
So, why get rid of it?
Anyone can explain to me...

its because shes a commoner. In this setting ppl still have the mind set that the queen should come from a noble family. And as this story has addressed she is not "lady like" as the nobles and imperial family require the queen to be. The campaign was never meant to be fair it was simply used to put certain noble families in their place. its sad but its the truth

I know that.... But why did they include a commoner in the first place?

Bec they're fckup and marketing strategy just for the show. They treated the competition like a reality tv show where they show an under dog to keep the toes of the audience whose majority are commoner as well.

to make the competition seem fair when it rlly isnt. By including a commoner they can gain the support of the common people as well as embarrass the other nobles
