i feel like the escliffes are too small of a family to be the only ones supplying light users to the temple. they would probably have better standing if they had family in the temple consistently after all. but yeah, def something sus af about those pills
Pills are probably fake or seal/stunt her powers in some way. So when she stops taking them, her powers return and her body can't handle it. Now the question becomes, is the temple blackmailing her family to keep them from threatening the temple's power, or is the temple suppressing the family's powers to keep them from dying because they're the only reliable source of light users? My guess is power.
