Did you try Resident Evil yet? It feature Chris Redfield from the video game. It's not post apocalypse but it set on remote island/place with all school & dorm that all the students and teachers turn to zombie. And they need to break out of the place

The manga has different main character from the movie. The manga MC is Japanese novice in militer. In the movie, it was militer campaign marketing who never went to war. Basically the story is the same. You should read it manga amd the movie. The movie starred by Tom Cruise.
