I think they introduce us to the timid guy to show us that K is already violent, so it wouldn’t be out of character for him to have killed someone. It’s obvious that K drugged Gusam somehow (likely laced the cigarette he offered), so while it isn’t written in stone, you can kind of out two and two together...

no yeah I totally get that, it is quite clear that's how the murder happened but I meant in terms of how one of the policemen was kinda suspicious of K and they even had the scene with the timid guy at the police station so they were kinda sorta onto the fact that there was something fishy about K and then nothing came out of it, and case was (supposedly) closed.

But actually we don't know if the case was closed after all since the primary suspect committing suicide does not necessarily make him guilty but given the story i guess it was.

i also think the same..i think the author delibreatly left those scenes for our own interpretation... so that u know we can piece it together

and at this point it is clear that k got away with it..which is the hidden bad end in this

and its not uncommon for criminals to commmit suicide out of guilt and doing so genrally proves that the crime was commited..so i think the case was closed and well k's a free man
