As far as I know the empress is all the eldest kids mother they are different ages and look different because of magic that with makes them either older or a bit different the twins mother did something so she could get pregnant with them to manipulate him she wasn't even a concubine just a blackmailer. And Roses hated the emperor because he was in love with the empress and she refused him. He's hated the royal family and worse because the emperor had kids with a woman not her his perfect empress.
Dude I get why they're "illegitimate" becuase the twins mother was not the empress but technically they have the same amount of magic royal blood as their brothers since it comes from their shared father. Wait, I thought the fox guy (Jason) was their spirit? Those who have the royal bloodline was supposed to have their own spirit/guardian. So isn't Jason theirs? She doesn't have a protector or anything like that. If she did, the so called protector should have died then (like the empress' case) and Jason won't even care about the twins.
Also, idk if they're stronger or not, but they did meet all of the requirements to be of the royal bloodline though. Maybe not as much as the others because of their health and/or their mother's blood.
