They're alive, but as you can see Natsune and Yamabiki take their own path and leaving earth (maybe) instead of living with Ie and Kazu. I think it's because they both are not normal human and they would be an object of fear to the community (i bet they are immortal) , if so then they will just make Ie and Kazu in danger then? Nobody want the history to happen again and everyone would just kill them cause Natsune is a 'unlimited meat supply' for the monster so do Yamabiki...?

I think that was a hallucination that IE had since IE wasn’t old when that happened and he woke up in a different place so it’s probably something he dreamed of
