Wasn't Lucas apposed to be Anastasius's tutor and Lucas refused saying he was to weak or something. Right now we only seen a few memories of there childhood.

I think the child Lucas said was unfit for him to teach, and made fun of him for having dull blue eyes, is the guy controlling Anastasius with black magic. Which is the guy that’s always in the hood so every time Anastasius eyes are red it’s actually him, that’s why he said to Jenette that you don’t need to be strong at using magic.
But if Lucas was sleeping why would Anastasius be scared of Lucas remembering him??
As the reply above yours says, the child whom Lucas insulted is likely the one controlling Anastasius. Lucas is a powerful Magician, he would recognize that the guy isn't actually Anastasius.
Btw, Lucas went to sleep soon after he met that kid, so he didn't know that the kid grew to be a powerful magician and emperor. The guy likely dabbled in dark arts to grow that strong, I think.

From what I've seen Anastasius is conscious about the fact that he's being controlled/manipulated.. I guess both of their motive is to dethrone Claude.. Whether it's because of grudge, greed or some other reason, that I'm not sure..

But there was actually no reason (as far as i remember) for him to be such and ass to his brother (claude) so maybe the reason he's being evil rn has something to do with when he met this weird black fog that was calling him when he was younger????
(Though idk what happenned between him and Lucas so i'm prob wrong/
