Instead of resenting the fact that she didn’t expose an INNOCENT girl who’s done nothing to deserve being exposed, maybe applaud the fact that despite circumstances held against her, she held firm onto her spot against her uncle and didn’t waver and proved she is so much more than just a spoiled princess from the rumors.
Acc, majority of the people hate Jennette bc she’s honestly just a really naive character. She has started many issues (w/o even knowing that she did) in the past timeline and this one. I personally do not simp for the uncle (yes, he is attractive but personality always outweighs looks). For mr. White, I honestly don’t rly care abt him bc I just find his character irrelevant (he’s not acc irrelevant to the plot, but in my mind he’s just a character I don’t rly give a shit abt).
I dislike Jeanette because she allows herself to remain dense as a way to avoid seeing the consequences of her actions. She didn’t want to consider how her seeing Claude during Athy’s banishment would hurt Athy. She didn’t want to consider how it must feel for Athy to have her dad ignore her for someone else. She allows herself to remain dense so that she doesn’t have to confront her actual self. She might be innocent but she still does stuff I can dislike her for. Great that Athy protected her but Jeanette wouldn’t do the same. I believe that. Anyways, you like her and I’ll hate her in peace.
But the thing is, her naiveness is literally due to her upbringing and the actions of OTHERS. Claude himself knew she wasn’t his daughter and allowed her to be close to him which many blame her for and not him. This timeline it’s obviously different but what I was trying to say is, you CAN dislike her for being naive, I could careless if people just dislike her because why not, but it’s the fact that people are blaming her for things she DIDNT do and tying it into her actions when there literally has been no evidence stated otherwise you know? I myself don’t even like her, nor do I dislike her, but it just irritates me like did we read the same webtoon?
First off, I never said I liked her so stop right there lmao. I’m neutral on her character bc to me she’s quite plain and there’s nothing to like OR dislike. And no??? Jeanette is literally JUST dense. There is no other hidden motive behind it. The girl is literally just dense, nothing more, nothing less. That’s the issue I have with y’all, y’all look into her actions more than necessary. And uh, the reason for athy disappearing was never stated to the public but going by your logic, even if it was, WHY would she mention to athy about her father who WANTS to kill her? Who’s literally on a manhunt for her so he can get rid of her?? THATS insensitive . And in the end, she did try to set them up together so I don’t see the point of that topic. There is literally no hidden motive behind her actions. Jeanette is just ... Jeanette. Naive. I also never said yall couldn’t dislike her. I just said don’t hate her for stupid reasons = things she didn’t do. And considering Jeanette hid her and sheltered her while Athy was homeless, then tried to set her and claude up again, idk what u mean by Jeanette wouldn’t do the same for her but alright.
Cool. You don’t like her. First, she’s about 15-16. She should have an idea of what she’s doing. Whether it’s intentional or not, she’s doing stuff. Second of all, I didn’t say she should tell the father that wants to kill Athy about Athy’s whereabouts. However, she should’ve understood how it would feel for Athy to see her dad talk to someone else’s child while she was on the loose. She did shelter her but went on to do stuff that would hurt Athy. At this point, it’s not about whether she’s dense or not. It’s the fact that naïveté isn’t enough. You can’t consistently make people unhappy and use being naive as an excuse to avoid seeing the harm you cause
Let me break it down for you since you clearly didn’t understand my comment. The whole point of YOUR comment was that she had hidden motive OTHER than being naive so I replied in turn of that, that there is NO hidden motive and she’s literally JUST dense. And before you say you didn’t, reread your original reply and understand why I came to that conclusion. And I never hinted or implied that it COULDNT harm others. And second of all, you missed my whole point — it wasn’t even the point. I never said she should tell claude about athy’s whereabout. I said she shouldn’t discuss claude WITH athy CONSIDERING the circumstances that YOU brought up. The only way for Jeanette to know it’s harming athy is if athy TELLS her. We as readers know that athy knows the OG plot of this novel, hence why she’s uneasy, but Jeanette doesn’t know that athy knows that she believes she’s her half sister, or anyone else knows other than the Alpheus, nor does she even know about the ending for the OG athy in the first place. So to any other eyes, it’s literally JUST the ward of the biggest Duke household visiting Claude, the emperor, and that’s that. Because literally, if my father talked to a child, I would see it as him just talking to a child. The only reason Athy’s uneasy is BECAUSE she knows the plot, knows the ending and we do too, but Jeanette herself and anyone else does not know that, so in that sense it isn’t harmful to their general view, because how is talking harmful. It’s only harmful because we know the ending and athy does, too, which is just dramatic irony. But overall, it really isn’t.
And, Athy also invites Jeanette to the tea party to help with Claude’s condition. Athy is literally fine with it at this point, too, because she believes Jeanette is helping Claude. She herself recognizes that Jeanette isn’t doing any harm because of what Jeanette grew up believing due to others telling her she’s claudes daughter. So tell me, who is she making unhappy other than us readers and what we know from dramatic irony?
- that the whole point was to not hate Jeanette for something you think shes done, but something she has done. Or to blame other peoples actions, aka her father's plans to retake the throne, on her. My comment sent before I could finish it lmao, but like I've said. I dont like her nor do I dislike her. You can dislike her but redefining her actions isnt neccessary. Just say you dont like her and go is what I'm trying to get at
Y’all hate Jeannette for the dumbest of reason lmao. Yeah, you can hate her because she’s a bitch in the novel but she’s literally done nothing in the webtoon and it’s CLEAR that she and athy are friends and want to support each other. You guys are saying it’s her fault this happened like no??? Did we read the same webtoon??? Her father set this whole thing up and simply used her as a piece. Y’all don’t hate mr white as much as you do her and HE was the one who sheltered the dude who yknow, literally tried to kill BOTH claude and athy and is the reason this whole thing happened in the first place. Hell, y’all SIMP for the uncle because he’s good looking despite the fact that he IS the cause of this whole shit, not Jeanette. The internalized misogyny is jumping out of yall. If you hate her, just say you do but don’t come up with stupid reasons as to why. Y’all keep pitting athy and her against each other when there really is no reason to. Their friends in This lifetime and care about each other and that’s that.
