the title of Fenrir is kind of like a status for a guardian of one of the 4 areas protected/overseen by them and is usually that of a female with high magic capability to take on the role after succession but a tleast from what I read through I wasn't able to find any explanation as to why this Fenrir is a boy so it's up in the air as to why that is rn and have not seen any of the characters question that yet either.
And yes the ML is presumed Fenrir (or at least for the winter arc of these stories since the author started a continuation that takes place after the winter events for spring and my guess is they'll do this for fall and summer as well so its ongoing. Kind of think of it like Book 1 being winter but book 2 being spring I guess.)
yeah its a bit odd imo but I would just chalk it up to old magic beast guardian way of talking lol like calling their apprentice child.
Didn't really look into detail on how much of the effects from the fenrir inheritance would effect her (loss of their human form and memories etc.) but looking at the story she still does care alot about her old parents and I think mc might just look up to fenrir as more of a senior anyways?
For those who are curious about the direction of the story and feel like it may be too short I skimmed with MTL to see what's in store and tbh the LN does seem a bit more interesting and have more time to flesh the story out. Surprisingly the story wasn't too bad to read either with MTL but here are some spoilers below:

I think the story is still ongoing and plans to target all the seasons but at least the intro of winter seems to be done and now onto spring?
>seasons are really different from Noel's home since all seasons have more benefits from their blessings (like the handy stove trees? that grow in winter and can easily be used to start fires for those in the snow) etc.
>the unicorn apparently eats meat I think lol and uses the horn to stab things/prevent the blood from dripping down so kind of a weird way of healing
>Seems like some other world stuff makes it to their world sometimes like Elle's phone?
>The prince falls in love with Elle at first sight to the embarrassment of his sister cause they're supposed to be on a mission for info lol. I think he's more fascinated in the magic of seasons and nature than her from looking ahead.
>The princess is actually really happy to be free from having to become the next successor and having to potentially loose her memories when she's been trying her best as a princess for so many years. Now she wants to be the queen and asks her brother to step down and tries to bargain with him saying she's better at negotiations and strong will. She's even snooped in on her brother's lessons for ruling the kingdom without him knowing with stuff like other world wiretapping devices??
this is stuff to like ch27 in the WN near the current chapter here for things but did skim way near the end for some more but they're vague without enough context but:
>there are 3 other seasonal guardians and seems like there was an issue with the spring territory
>Things from the otherworld crossing over has caused unfortunate abnormalities to occur which may have been part of the problem with winter being disrupted
>ML is Fenrir and he eventually does show his human form + remember a little of his past like his old name when he was a prince was Saphirael Rea Shelphon(?maybe a mix of saphire for his first name?)
>contact especially kissing is a good way to share magical life forceヾ(☆▽☆)
also pops over hears this in the video message I think
>Season change means that the winter duo get shorter hair when things warp up and grow back to regular when its cold again and they can still use some of their powers out of season but much weaker.
>I tried looking to see about what was up with Fenrir's gender and the whole replacement thing and it does seem like the norm is when the prior guardian is weakening, the kingdom tied to that guardian and season sacrifices girls with high magic potential and at least from the winter stories it seems like a mystery still why he became the next Fenrir unless I missed something or it hasn't been revealed yet.
Elle/Noel's dad manages to receive some last messages from his daughter digitally and does get to see their engagement photo and wonders who the mysterious white haired couple (specifically mentioning one looked like a man) and whether its normal for young people/foreigners to have wedding ceremonies with furry ears lmaoo
