*spoiler alert* (please read only if you've finished reading the manga)
Ok, so I read the manga, and went on to read the novel, and it was so worth it!! The manga follows the story and twists according to the novel but huge chunks of meaningful conversations and developments are missing. The ML comes off as a coward, but it's very realistic when you read the novel. He's just so responsible and caring, but confused about the fate of their relationship. He just doesn't want her to sacrifice her dream career for him, only to regret it later. Realistically, he's right. The problem is that he doesn't have any alternative plan to reach a compromise and thus he's so sure of their marriage ending bitterly that he forgets to realize that they both have to think it through and find a solution together! But, at the end, he gets his shit together, chases Valerie and they plan to reach a compromise between their work and married life. Valerie is very firm on continuing her dream job, and Colby wouldn't have her giving it up either!
Also, I'd like to clear up Colby's ambiguous relationship with Sherry, his ideal candidate for marriage. Their relationship is on and off for about a year, before Valerie comes into his life. He takes Sherry on a few more dates to get over Valerie but she sees through his act, refuses to go on another date and tells him that in their 1 year relationship, there hadn't been any spark between them, nor did they fall in love with each other as they both had planned, and now, he was just using her to forget his love for Valerie, which was wrong and unfair to her! (I'd like to add that all the women in this novel are so damn strong, it's amazing!)
So pls do read the novel if u can. Trust me, you won't regret it! They're one of the sweetest couples ever
