I mean, did she even have magic powers, or was her editor just a lunatic and it was a coincidence? If there were zero consequences to her quitting, and she can just come back later and nobody really cares, it kinda feels like he could have just been a pushy asshole that gaslit her to get her to make him a lot of money, and they didn't need to go with the supernatural prophecy plotline at all.
