okay,,,,,,, can i just say but seeing them talk about the possibility of adopting & raising a child made me extremely happy bc most bls ive read they at least one of the leads would always say "but i can't give you a child" or "i can't give you a family" everytime i see that it makes me wanna facepalm bc bruh adoption exists and also u dont need a child to be a family thats why this manga is such A BREATH OF FRESH AIR !!!!

not only did they talk about adoption they also ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THEY'RE A FAMILY JUST THE WAY THEY ARE AND ALSO REGISTERED THEIR PARTNERSHIP WHICH IS SOMETHING I HAVE NOT SEEN IN A SINGLE BL THAT IVE READ & IM JUST WOW I LUV THEM

i also love how theyre families and friends know about them and they ended up being more open about their relationship. it's just SO HEALTHY I LUV IT IT MAKES ME WANNA CRI

Unfortunately, same sex adoption isn’t a reality in Japan, so that’s why so many plot lines in BL center around not being able to give your partner a child.
There’s also no legal recognition of same sex marriage either (only the symbolic one that they got in this manga) :(

ohhhh i see wtf :( so as long as they're a couple they really can't adopt even if it's only one of them who will do it? or is it just really just not a norm/allowed for an lgbt individual to adopt?

yea i kinda got that the partnership doesn't really serve any legal recognition it's really more of just a certificate :((

Here is the Wikipedia entry for same sex adoption in Japan:
“ Same-sex couples are not allowed to legally adopt in Japan. Lesbian couples and single women are unable to access IVF and artificial insemination.
In April 2017, Osaka officially recognised a same-sex couple as foster parents, making it the first such case in Japan.”
It’s really unfortunate, but I’m hoping that further strides can be taken for lgbt+ rights in Japan!

i think they could only sign up for a document where it claims theyre life partners just like them :((( and the adoption could only be named after one parent!! i hope in the future that gay rights should be normalized and accepted by all public affairs or like to those who are against it :(((

I doubt you’d be able to adopt as a single parent in Japan :(
