Except you don't have to be bi to fall in love with someone of a different gender even if you've liked people of the same gender up until that point.
This is just my understanding of the ending of this manga. I don't know if the mangaka intended this or not.
From what i understand, is that at the end both Arishige & Mioko learned to move forward despite everything. They don't end up together but they became very important to each other as they supported each other in their most crucial times. Asaba rejects Arishige at the end but still remains friends with him. Mioko learns what it means to truly love someone from the bottom of your heart & continues to be with Arishige (as good friends i guess). Arishige now after coming out & confessing to his best friend feels less burdened. He might return Mioko's feeling as he's bi (not sure but it was hinted), but that's a story of distant future i guess as he'll need some time to get over Asaba. Again, these are just my thoughts. I actually don't know if the mangaka meant this or not.
