I think both. Some are doing if for free and some accepts donations and all.

I think they work for free as, many of them buy or get raws,
and translate/clean etc. them. It’s technically not the official translation, and the manga/ manhwa etc. most likely dont belong to them.This is just what i think though, i could be totally wrong, and i believe donations are how they get paid for their work.

Some groups post their Kofi or patreon on their website. Groups usually tell you how to get to their site on the credits page.
Some reject donations outright and tell you to buy the actual work you loved. I would suggest you do this instead to support the actual authors who wrote and drew it.
All of the people who work(?) here such as cleaner , translator and etc....Do they get paid or they work for free?
