The incest thing is very, very uncomfy. It makes me wonder how people think of those kinds of things. Maybe it's supposed to be jarring and irrefutably wrong that readers can't support it. On the plus side the ML and his son are the last so there's no secret cousins or siblings that will be forced on them.
