They did both care about each other. Just not in a “Boys Love” kind of way.

I keep seeing misconceptions being spread on here about this manga. It’s not BL, Shounen Ai or Yaoi. Sure Ash & Eiji cared for each other but it’s not in a BL sense. The official genres are: Crime Thriller & action. I love BL but this isn’t a BL manga. There was no editorial meddling, the author planned to kill Ash from the beginning and even if he wasn’t killed the author was gonna have them go separate ways.
