Well he clearly states he has interest in the mansion because the princes grandmother stayed in the mansion but many theorize that he’s just lying when his true intentions are to keep Mildred and her daughters safe because the painting is worth a lot of money and anyone can come in and steal it since there is no servants and it’s just women living in that mansion, so he’ll keep the painting instead to keep the ladies from harms way.
