And there's a huge ass stereotype and bl where they uke is supposed to be some dumb feminine person like what- especially with blonde hair and shit like that's not how the real world works and that's just common sense like girls are feminine and you date a guy there like muscular or something I mean like come on and to be honest do you really think all gay ppl want feminine person if they don't want to date a girl I mean they're not attractive to girls and I don't like gender rules its crap I believe that shouldn't exist at all, you could wear and look however the fuck you want to but I'm just going off of society's standards so societies terminology like we're all in a literally box like besides science of girls having a hips and shit and boobs that's for reproductive why would that affect how we think or how we dress it's dumb as fuck and I think loves is love like gender does not matter, I mean
the only time gender really matters is like having sex because genitalia and guys are gonna look a certain way but and girls will to because of hips and stuff
but the mind could be anything. I know there's a science at all, but do we have to really generalize everybody like stop-

This is definitely a thing. BL stereotypes become harmful if the readers base their attitude towards actual gay men from what they have come across in yaoi. Fiction isn't always just fiction. Fiction are ideas and we can let unrealistic ideas get the best of us if we're not careful. Yaoi fans have a poor reputation because they obnoxiously push dumb BL stereotypes on gay men.

I understand what you’re saying and it’s definitely a problem. But on a more positive note, I’ve been seeing people more aware of it and also more interested in mangas where the ukes don’t fit in this stereotype. So there’s hope (⌒▽⌒).
Still, there’s a large portion of the community that is like that. There’s nothing wrong with having a type of fetish, but if affects how you see and treat gay men in real life, that’s a real issue.

I think a person that fetishizes BL is someone who’s entire “opinion” is based on fiction. Like you just said, the bottom is always smaller cutter and the top has to be this super masculine person, and it’s just like no????? Literally bottom and top have nothing to do with the physical appearance.
But the real problem is when people start using this in real life, it’s just weird to start shipping some random real life person and be life “we would definitely be the bottom” like what’s the problem with you????? You gonna look at a straight couple and be like “ohh she definitely pegs him” obviously not, BECAUSE ITS NONE OF OUR FUCKING BUSINESS. The same problem happen to lesbian couples (talking as a bi person who suffered because of the fetiches produced by some weird man when I was kissing my ex girl in a party)

Yeah but after sticking around here reading hundreds you realize there are so many types of BL. I believe some artists make name because of their particular type of plot in the beginning and that is what selling. But all artists have variety plots and styles. Some have it all musculine. Some are like usual shojo with uke instead of a girl. Then there is omega verse.. Which is mostly impossible to try to put it together with reality.
I'm personally good with almost anything as long as there is no rape and psycho evil guys are not romantized

Yea lol I did write a 2 whole essay If only I could be like that in class oh and I did because I also see it on tiktok and stuff .I find it quite annoying and I was confused and Honestly I don't know ppl are weird Cause in the comments a boy could just be doing anything and everybody's called him a gay twink or a bottom I've seen it a lot in anime.

Any story has a bit of reality, because any trope, cliche, plot comes from something that happened or didnt happen. and the truth is, people are forcing their opinions on real people due to that. in Thai BL series, the characters are called wife and husband which refers to their sex positions. As much as i love bl, this irks me so badly. Due to that, people refer to those actors/characters as husband and wife. This makes me think "What the Fuck? Is he a woman? Because the actor plays a role where he happens to bottom he's stuck with that word forever? And then making jokes about him getting pregnant like OMG." And what happens is people don't realize the extent of this as they say we are just saying it for fun, we know he is a man and none of this is going to happen. But people don't realize that unconsciously they have already assigned this kind of a role to this actor. And so they ignore anything that changes this role of his and screams when he doesn't.
Someone describe what a fetishizer is because some of these comments are uuhh idk like, I don't know but some of these comments are kind of weird. Now, I'm not gonna say which, though cause I don't want to hear anything and I'm not very sure what it really means but someone please describe it to me.No hate but like some of y'all just sound like your generalizing gay men like I mean, look up a video or something like do you expect the uke always to always be feminine yall sound like the people who obsess over Fem boy like, do ya not understand the harm what you're doing, it's a stereotype that y'all pushing it's straight ppl shit on gay men even if its fictional. Cause the girl is supposed to be feminine stuff and is a uke supposed to be filling in as that quality of a girl it's a stereotype . And especially, I would like a gay man say something because I've never seen a gay ppl talk on it like it's their life, and I've only seen just like straight girls and stuff. Like, why do people have to have roles Why does it matter who's top and bottom can't they just love each other. And you people don't see the trend and bl I'm starting to get why people hate us lol.
