Wow, I really liked this story, but I'm really going to drop it now.
This is one thing I seriously hate about k-webtoons, it happens so many times that I end up disliking the FL halfway through! The writers make great female leads at first who are smart, and strong, but by the end, they throw all that away and make them incredibly dumb, and straight out annoying to the point I never finish reading the webtoons!
I'm so disappointed this fell into that category as well.
In that aspect, the FL should've been more considerate but she has low EQ. You said it yourself, it's hard for her to notice his feelings. He, who knows of this, should've been more upfront about it if he truly wanted to chase her. But both of them are bound by their duty, so he probs can't do that. The problem that I'm annoyed of is the fact that people think that since she's now pregnant and sht, she should just marry him and appreciate him. The thing is does she even love him? She doesn't. From the looks of it it's one sided. But people expect her to reciprocate it when she can't. She still has a bright future ahead of her that needs to be sacrificed just because of this mistake. She actually can abort the child but she didn't because it was her duty, especially since it's a firstborn emperor son. This problem can't be solved just with her marrying him, since it would mean she would lose everything she worked hard for. That is why for once she regretted being a woman, since now she's 'obligated' to marry him as she has his kid. She doesn't like him, and she still has a bright future ahead of her. She doesn't want to be an empress (especially since in this case it would be a poly since there's concubines, she seems pretty monogamous), she wants to be a knight. Consider how in her viewpoint, this is a very hard and hurtful choice to make. If you were in her position, you don't love the guy you had a kid with, your forced to marry him since you have the kid and is gonna lose everything (reputation, career, etc) just because of that, it's fkin horrible. So I understand how she comes to hate him for it. If he were to be more upfront, then maybe they won't even be that close and all of this wouldn't have happened (as she admire not love him). She's a knight, the first female knight. And he's an emperor. Their relationship is bound to fail, especially with how misogynistic and sexist their society is. If she married him, she would worth nothing in everyone's eyes as they would see that her achievement were given to her, not that she worked hard for it herself. The emperor at that moment (asking to marry) was probably driven by his emotions. But first and foremost, hes an emperor, and he should consider the consequences of his actions (FL losing everything, marriage won't bring her happiness). In my case it was a mistake to clarify that FL did no wrong (as you said she was the one to come to him). It was a mistake on her part for being irresponsible. I know feelings can't be forced, his emotions can't be helped. I'm criticizing him as he is an emperor. He can't be blamed for his feelings, but he should consider the reality properly with those feelings. It's unrealistic to think that just because they have a kid together and he loves her, she would marry him and would sacrifice everything so he could be happy (marrying the woman she loves). Plus, people may also not agree with him marrying a knight so I think theyre bound to be unhappy, especially since it's a forced marriage (if it were to really happen). If he wants her to like him, he needs to be more upfront and truly, properly, chase after her. FL can't truly be blamed for her obliviousness as obviously, he knows of this trait yet isn't really upfront about his feelings for her.
Bruh I literally wrote "Now I'm not saying she should marry him against his will, since the emperor doesn't want that either. I'm saying blaming him for having /feelings/ and saying such hurtful things when he was nothing but good to her is just annoying."
I agree with what you wrote above, I don't agree with her being, to put it bluntly, shitty with her response. I don't blame her for not loving or wanting to marry him. I blame her for blaming HIM and making him feel like his love is something he should be blamed for and sorry for. I blame her for not being even at least considerate about his feelings while EXPECTING him to be considerate and respectful about HER feelings and needs. He was always considerate about her feelings, but she couldn't do it this one time when it was the most important and basically caused unnecessary guilt and shame for him. That's annoying.
I agree that its annoying LOL But I cant rlly hate her, cuz well... yeah, the emperor wasnt wrong
But guys, is he hurt? Yeahh, he is rlly hurt and sad... But she is feeling even worst, so when you are depressed and having a crisis sometimez you are insensitive, its normal to react this way at first
Guys, please... she was mean, but he is a mature, smart and respectable emperor and she is just an orfan that doesnt know what a family is and she suddenly found herself pregnant, alone, judged by society and cant be herself anymore cuz... well, she defined herself just as a knight her whole life, is she isnt a knight what is she? And yeah, she is alone cuz even if the emperor is there wanting to help her, sometimes you need a friend to talk with and cry to understand what happening and process everything, and you cant process it when the sorce of your anxiety is there LOL is he even the sorce? Well she didnt process it yet cuz didnt have time, everybody has their own time to think about things
Anyway guys, dont just hate her and feel sorry for him... She deserves some empathy as well
She had my empathy for more than 300 chapters and my patience just kinda ran out... If I can't sympathize with the main character anymore then I'm not gonna enjoy the story at all and well, that's a shame, but I can't do anything about how she turned out. I knew she could be cruel, but she really outdid herself in the lastest chapters... And I like slow burn, but even for me it's taking a bit too long. I came for romance, not for a hurt no comfort story, so I guess it's just not for me.
I'm not telling anyone to drop this or hate her - I'm just saying if you're like me and don't like this kinda stuff happening, just save your time and don't waste it like I did. If you like this kinda stuff, good for you, don't drop it.
In all honesty if she was engaged to someone else and was liking him then found out he was gonna betray him had a one night stand with the emperor who lost his wives I mean it doesn't give her room to fall in love either. So I understand her not loving him at this point. If you've only ever seen someone as a friend then had a random drunken one night stand then got pregnant run away and not spent time with the friend for ages after the fact it's normal to not be in love. I mean now after she returns she can fall in love because she will spend time with him with these new thoughts and feelings.
i totally get why you feel this way, but don't you think this is interesting? i've never read a manga/manhwa with this kind of female lead. so many women irl feel like her - the moment they fall in love, they will like they've lost at life. that child is not at fault ofc but you can't deny that he was not born out of love but an accident.. a one-night stand where the two parents have a wildly imbalanced power dynamic, since one of them is an emperor.
i had this buried in my disorganized library, but after reading this post i am glad i re-found it and look forward to catching up!
I'm going to say this one last time, I understand her not falling in love since it's something you can't choose, I just don't like her trampling over her savior's feelings and I can't relate to her at all when it comes to empathy since she has almost none and it's really frustrating for me when I read. It's good if you like where this is going. Read then. I wrote this comment not to insult the work, but to warn people who dislike stuff like this as well, so they won't lose time reading this to only drop it in the end, like I did.
Urgh stories with issues involving kids get to me a bit too much. Kids are a soft spot for me. I don’t mind stories where it’s established in early chapters that the story will feature some form of questionable treatment towards a kid. But having it brought all a sudden 300 chapters later ain’t my thing. I don’t really give a damn about the FL and the prince and their debating about their relationship. But the poor kid man. Think I’ll drop this one.
I really love this story, but i think i will be dropping it.

So i read the novel. It's chapter 300something and she's still not in love with the emperor. Actually, one time they got so drunk that his majesty told her he loved her and she actually came onto him and they slept together, but couldn't remember a thing so they both thought they took advantage of each other. Then FL found of she got pregnant because of this one night, ran away, had a baby in secret and it turned out it's not only a boy (first born son of the emperor) but also looks exactly like the emperor. He goes to visit her unexpectedly and she tells him about the child. Or course he's super happy - but she wants to die and even kinda hates this child - she wanted to abort it but didn't do it because it was a child of a royal blood. ML gets emotional and finally says he loves her but she starts crying and she told him that this is the first time that she hates being a woman and that his majesty made her feel this way. She doesn't want to marry him cause it will take away everything she's got so far (the name Winter he gave her and other things she accomplished) and even tho she seems to be attracted to the emperor physically (she couldn't stop thinking about the night they spent together and kept thinking the emperor was hot lol) she seems to not love him this way at all. I'm just so heartbroken and sad for the emperor, he's truly one of the best MLs I've even encountered and he's hurting so much because of her... She doesn't even like their child, she said she doesn't care what his majesty does with him and she said the child doesn't even feel like her family because it's the prince. I like slow burn but after more than 300 chapters i would think she would at least love the emperor a bit, see him than more than just a superior, maybe consider if she could be happy with him rather than as she is now.............. I really felt so miserable when he told her he loved her when their child was in the same room and she just went "omg I'm so disappointed you made me hate being a woman for the first time in my life" and he even hugged her and apologized and said it was all his fault............... I just can't, I'm not patient enough to wait so long for the FL to open her eyes and fall in love when it's been so many chapters and she's still the same
Sorry for ranting but i love this kind of story and I'm just so pissed that this is going in this way, i don't remember a time when I was feeling so sad and wronged towards the ML and not the FL
His majesty may have looked cruel during war but in private life he really be the purest man out there
