That’s a tidbit I didn’t know. That might be one other reason. I do know in the novel though, Hwayoung told Gyuwon to meow for him because (this is something that gets mentioned in ch 6) he mentioned wanting to raise a big cat when he was a kid, and at the time, he didn’t know that how he described his ideal cat was actually about his ideal type.

Fun fact: Nabi means “butterfly” in Korean, but it’s also a common name for cats there. That’s why Gyuwon meowed when Hwayoung called him butterfly
