Swimming isn’t his trauma. Yeah, in his dream he’s under water, but dreams aren’t literal; the water could mean he feels like he’s suffocating. Remember there’s a person too, a person that threatened to out him if he told the secret. I’m guessing that person was also a part of the swimming community and someone close to Jaeyoung; which is why he quit. He could feel like he’s suffocating from having to hold in the secret and hide who he is. I mean he obviously internalizes everything and when a person does that they can feel like there’s this crushing pressure on their chest that won’t go away.

Also he’s not crazy—the stalker is crazy—he’s woke up with the aftermath of the dream still sticking to him so his emotions are raw. It kinda seems like he has PTSD.

I felt like that too. Especially since I kept seeing comments about how it’s not realistic that he can swim again or how he’s crazy. Nice to know I’m not alone!! :-)
