Totally agreed. Thank you for pointing it out. Tbh at the beginning i was rooting for Taku until the moment he said "i don't mind if you use me" - in the car, I was like...NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. Everything about him felt so fake, even when they were being "romantic"
And everything about joowon and haesu felt SO real even though hella messy and so frustrating. I really don't get how people could root for taku apart from suffering from second lead syndrome but that's valid personally when the second lead is BETTER, but when he oitrightly offered himself as a substitute KNOWING haesu loved joowon and it was complicated, it smelled so foul to me. I'm soooooo mighty glad haesu guy his head on straight at the nick of time. I'm so happy for joowon! Tbh my favourite character - his character development has been *chef's kiss*
never once did it feel like Haesoo and Taku were in a real relationship. it was like they were reading off a script of "what normal people do in a relationship" and were just acting it out.
what taku lacks in character development, Joowon makes up for with some of the best character development I've ever seen, just, wow, beautiful, bravo
I don't think that he broke up with Haesoo... just Haesoo standing in front of the house was enough to know what he came for and Haesoo initiated the break, by saying he did his best and that he is sorry ... I also liked that Taku didn't fight it and just accepted it... he knows that he doesn't stand a chance to win over Haesoo.. takus feelings surely weren't as deep, but we have to be fair here and see that Haesoo actually didn't give their relationship a chance to deepen
Haesoo 100000% gave Taku a chance, he tried to move on with Taku, its just that he could not get rid of his feelings for Joowon no matter how hard he tried. But even that is Taku's fault since Haesoo told him point blank he was not emotionally ready for a relationship. Haesoo never had a moment to breath and work through his emotions. Taku is the one who pushed Haesoo into dating him knowing all this. Taku played himself in this whole thing, Haesoo is not to blame. you don't get to create your own storm and then act upset when it rains ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I wouldn't call it a chance tho.. he gave Taku his time and body, but that's basically it... giving him a chance (for me) would've been smth like cutting ties with Joowon and starting a relationship with Taku , while being emotionally ready... Haesoo should have rejected Taku right when he knew that he is not emotionally available... they both pushed smth that wasn't gonna happen...
Haesoo never outright rejected Taku, so of course Taku will hold onto that little hope he has (also bc he hates losing and has a huge ego but -)
If only they were a little more honest all this wouldn't have happened...
I don't like Taku not trying to defend him, but I don't think it's fair to dump all this on him...
but Haesoo did outright reject him. I get that you're not team taku or anything but Haesoo straight up said im not ready for a relationship. I do not want to date you right now and Taku guilt tripped Haesoo by literally begging on his knees to date him. he emotionally manipulated Haesoo into dating him. and any relationship that requires you to completely cut someone out of your life is an unhealthy relationship already. it means you don't trust the other person.
Through his manipulation Taku lead himself to this outcome. Haesoo has been honest about his feelings the whole time, he never promised to fall in love with Taku, he said he would try. and he did. it didn't work and when he realized it wasn't gonna work and he is in love with Joowon he went to break up with Taku. Taku was the one who couldn't take no for an answers and forced something that wasn't gonna work.
SPOILER
yo Taku, thanks for proving my point that you never even had genuine feelings for Haesoo. this whole thing was about beating Joowon and feeding Taku's ego. when Taku realized that wasn't happening he gave up and broke things off first cuz he knew that Haesoo was about to break up with him and he wants to play it like he didn't lose cuz he was the one who ended it.
This was Taku being a selfish manipulator till the very end and I think some people think it was out of character for him cuz they assumed he really did have feelings for Haesoo, and yeah, if he did have real feelings for Haesoo this would have been a weird way to end their relationship. But since his feelings have always been selfish and superficial its completely in line with his character. He likes the way Haesoo makes him feel cuz when he is with Haesoo Taku feels superior to Joowon.
Compare Joowon's break up to Taku's and its so clear that Taku never had true feelings of love for Haesoo.
Joowon gave up his pride in order to always be there for Haesoo, while Taku is trying to save face by breaking up with Haesoo first. (and lets get this straight, Taku may have said the words to initiate the breakup but Haesoo set the stage for it cuz Haesoo was the one who had already decided to break up with Taku. when Taku realized he couldn't win, that's when he decided to break up)
