I thought the deer is a male? It was mentioned in the earliest chapters

It is a male but the wolf doesn't care he still likes him. (I think that they will start dating or something) (=・ω・=)

But, the way they addresses the deer is "she".

I've read somewhere that he and she have the same character(word) in Chinese.
