Maybe im a psycho but i love how jayna does her thing to angela. Using her brain to crush angelas mentality is much more agonizing and beautiful to watch than a sudden slit to throat. jaynas just preventing something she know will happen rather tha risking the family she love.
I was reading on novel updates but it is actually a tiny bit more complex than that.

It wasn't her mother Angela killed. It was the Jayna's mother. Angela's father has extreme ptsd after the war. That caused him to become super abusive. Because of that Angela's mother began to covet the life of Jayna's mother. Angela's mother could have married Jayna's father but Jayna's father already fell in love with Jayna's mother. The king arranged the marriage between Angela's parents.
Angela's mom became so obsessed with the idea that she should be living Jayna's mother's life that she filled Angela's head with it. Jayna's parents visited them back when Angela was a bit younger. and Angela's mother encouraged her to poision Jayna's mother.
Angela hates the color pink because her mother used to wear long sleeved pinked gowns in order to cover her bruises. Her mother died after her father beat her. Her mother slipped during the beating and hit her head. After that her father would have Angela dress up like her mother(so the pink) and would beat her instead. She killed her father after a bit of this treatment, and then forged the letter.
So yeah she killed her dad and forged the letter. That part can be forgiven considering the abuse. But what happend to Jayna's mother is a tragedy.
I feel like your defending angela... i really hate it when author make the villian backstory like so sad its so obvious they want us to pity her...
I think she is guilty but also crazy, because if you were abused by a child and influenced to be jealous you'd go crazy too. Like once again. I have no problem with Jayna getting her revenge. But I do see why Angela turned out the way she did, and why is so hard for her to just stop messing with Jayna. Like normally I can see how a character could just stop being horrible. But in this case I think her mental state is in the way. She couldn't not be a bitch to Jayna, it is hardwired into her cuz of the crazy.
Like there are chapters according to the people at Novel updates where Angela is shown killing animals. That's like classic serial killer vibe shit and what I mean by calling her things like crazy or insane. Like the Joker is a murder but he is also insane type of insane. So the level of sympathy I feel isn't the type that makes everything ok, but the type that explains why she so cruel.

Yeaaah it's apparently that far gone. To be clear this was described by the novel updates people as a flashback. So something that happend before Angela came to live with Jayna. It was back when they were kids and Jayna's father wanted to visit Angela's father (since they were friends during the way) Jayna found the animal that Angela killed.
So basically Angela was always a little off.
You can be punished for plotting yes. Like how here in the U.S you can get charged if they find o your planning murder or to bring a gun to school
Uhm....Ok so like I'd like to say something to y'all.
I found lots of stories with the "Take revenge on the traitor by returning in time" plot.
But like... To make someone suffer for actions they did not do (since this is the past) is like... wrong right? That makes you the villain.
The right answer should be trying to protect yourself and to isolate yourself from that traitor.
But ye i also like this dw. Its just that it keeps bugging me
