That really just depends on the title you're looking for. There's plenty on Kindle, Nook Book, Kobo (rakuten), Renta!. You can also try going to Mangad3x. Most of the manga pages that have official English translations link there.
There is also [email protected] but they seem pretty shady since they seem to sell titles that are under other publishers.
(just replace @ with a, 3 with e).
Hahaha I get you, I do that when the story goes downhill.
I guess it's why I prefer manga. A lot of webtoons just seem to milk the story for all its worth so the stories end up lower quality for the money you're dishing out.
Also, I trashtalk this site so much, I'm just biding my time when they're going to restrict my account. ( ̄へ ̄)
Thanks a lot!
Baka-updates is where I usually go for official serialization of manga.
Ill check Mangad3x for webtoons tho.
I went to the [email protected] website and they seem to be working with scanlation groups for paid scans. But you're right I did see manga that's already licensed there. I don't know what that's about....
I agreeeeeeee. One of the main reasons I prefer manga is that at least I'm sure im gonna receive decent-good art and a moderately long chapter. But with digitally released stuff (whether it's Japanese or Korean or anything originally a webtoon only) I'm not sure what the rules for releases are
Like i don't think these sites act as publishers and will approve or disapprove of webtoons based on their quality.
But the process for releasing a manga seems more.... regulated??? At least with the things I mentioned before.
I bought physical manga before (god-tier feelings when you get it in your hands). But I just finished reading Warehouse and that shit was just top notch i felt so bad for reading it here that's why im buying some of the chapters at least.
I honestly don't know how they deal with licensing, too, since technically they're in Israel and not under US copyright laws. So I'm not even sure the original artists are getting paid. I hope they are.
I honestly just know about them because of that drama GalaxyDoesBL raised siccing her fans on futekiya and Renta! decrying low wages while pushing readers to this site cause their work is there.
Yeah im pretty sure the authors don't get anything.
Wait hold on. Do tell.
Who is GalaxyDoesBL?
Is she the one telling the fans go to [email protected]?
Is [email protected] cheaper?
They're a scanlator group. You have probably read some of their work. [email protected]/group/8874/galaxy-does-bl/manga/
For a shortened version: https://boards.fireden.net/y/search/text/2780222
Even if they were cheaper, I'd rather not pay for scanlations where the author isn't getting any of the money.
They already deleted that drama, but here's on with a screenie of what message they sent: https://yaoireleases.wordpress.com/2020/08/26/monday-august-24th-wednesday-august-26th-2020/
The tea is, of course, there's always an agenda. =/
Anime News Network made an article about it when it leaked (if it's the low wages is what you mean by the big deal). I can't remember if both futekiya and Renta! issued statements about it, but one of them did.
Futekiya isn't really bad per se. They're just hiring third-party services. And these guys are comparing what is an international rate to US rate. It's par for the course on the global market and not an issue inherent to manga/manhwa publishing. I work on a global industry. I know how big the hourly fee gaps are between a US/EU consultant and a third world country. It's the same in every industry. You go with what is cheapest but good quality. Of course, we still need to protest low wages when we can.
Woah you know a lot!
I think this is the best conversation I've had on mangago. Nice talk!
I guess ill check out everything except for [email protected] then.
Yo!
So I've been wanting to get legal chapters for a while now (better quality, and to support the author). I wanna at least buy a few chapters from the serialized manga I read here
Anyway... I know Lezhin, Netcomics, and Futekiya.
What other sites or apps are there? Can you give examples of popular BLs there?
