I think he hits Yumi 'cause he is frustrated that Yumi doesn't love him back. And is not something i usually think/say but I believe that in this case SPECIFICALLY, the victim "likes" it; actually I think that he accepts Kan-chan's violence as some kind of punishment for not having courage to be with Mayama, and the 2 of them being like that, it creates a vicious circle.
