I persobally Love Love LOVE the anime and watched it before reading the chapters. To the best of my recolection, it follows the manga pritty nicely. Can't remember right now which chapter the anime ends, but I'd guess somewhere a bit over half way the manga. I can look up for it though.
Eitherway, deffinitely watch the anime! Doesn't matter which you do first, but I personally fell for the anime and the manga didn't have the same feeling anymore. That's only my opinnion though :)
Alright, my memory is so bad, but at least ch: 157 was in the anime. Any further from that, I can't remember. Sounds about time to watch the anime again :D
