i think that part was also very realistic. people stay in toxic relationship because they feel like they don't deserve any better, or the abuser makes them believe that it's what the deserve. they're both to blame but you do have the realize that actually happens in real life.
Just the usual: Rampant Homophobia, casual sexual and emotional abuse, victim blaming, and ofc horribly toxic relationships!
At the start you have to sit through a bunch of chapters where a character still wants an abusive, gaslighting cheating boyfriend! Anyone would immediately leave and not try to get them back but I am reading BL. 'I have to at least try everything first!'' (In the context of getting someone back) it's the emotional abuse for me
