So his daddy became a woman to be his wife?

No judgment if that's the case. Ancient mythology be like that. But I don't know if that's what actually they mean.

Okay, not even the educated know

Encyclopedia A: " Hathor came to be regarded as the mother of the sun god Ra"

Museum B: "She was the daughter of Ra [...]. As the wife of Horus, she was associated with the mother of the pharaoh in her role as Horus’s nurse, and also with the wife of the pharaoh in her role as Horus’s consort."

Encyclopedia A: "In another version of the story, Horus is the son of Hathor while, in others, she is his wife and, sometimes, she is mother, wife, and daughter of Horus."

So the real mythology makes just as little sense as the comic.

Basically we only have the leftover scraps from that time and we have to piece stuff together. To make it worse if the current pharaoh didn’t like the story they would just change it so everything is messy. Like Thoth was born from an egg in the middle of beginning of the universe. Or he was born from Osiris or he literally is just Hermes that turned into a bird and had to run away from Greece
